The rusted finish must be fully cured prior to application (min. 24 hours). Make sure that the air, surface, and product are all above 55°F and at least 5°F above the dew point before applying. Avoid applying this product if rain or snow is expected in 72 hours or if the temperature is expected to drop below 55°F within 72 hours. Permacoat Xtreme can be brushed, rolled or spray applied. Brushing: Use a high quality synthetic bristle brush. Rolling: Use a high quality short-nap varnish roller. Spraying: Use a HVLP gun, conventional cup gun or airless spray system.
First coat: Add equal parts of Permacoat Xtreme with water and stir well before applying.
Second coat: Apply Permacoat Xtreme at full strength. Maximum two coats and dry film thickness of 2.0 mils is recommended.
DO NOT USE OTHER SEALERS OR VARNISHES.
Always test a similar surface before applying to your project. Do not apply in temperatures below 55°F/13°C or above 95°F/35°C.
Taping – Use high quality, low-tack tape when taping over surfaces that have been previously painted with Metallic Paint. When painting over taped-off areas be aware that Metallic Paints exhibit poor early adhesion properties and are elastomeric (they stretch) before curing. Consider cutting along the tape edge with a razor blade to avoid delaminating the fresh paint from the substrate.
