Meoded - Tonachino Firenze

Tonachino Firenze™ can be tinted to any color using Universal tints or machine colorants. Meoded’s natural concentrated “VOC free” pigments are recommended for dark colors.

Tonachino Firenze™ yields a high coverage rate due to its thin layers. The coverage of Tonachino Firenze™ is in regards to its 2 coat application.
One Quart (1.0 kg (2.2 lbs)) roughly 6.5-7 sq ft
One Gallon (5.0 kg (11lbs)) roughly 32.5-35 sq ft
One Bucket (20 kg (44lbs)) roughly 130-140 sq ft

New Surface: Prime substrates with PVA acrylic primer and let it dry fully. Apply one coat of Meoded Quartz Primer™, allowing it at least 3-5 hours to dry.

Existing Surface: Any surface with sheen should be sanded lightly, cleaned and dust free. Then prime the surface with a waterbased multi-purpose primer and let it dry fully. Next, apply one coat of Meoded Quartz Primer™, allowing it to dry for at least 3-5 hours. Preparation of flat surfaces requires only the application of Meoded Quartz Primer™.

Exterior Brown Coat: Surface should be pressure washed and clean. When surface is fully dry, apply Meoded Quartz Primer™ diluted up to 25% water. Let it dry for at least 3-5 hours. Over the brown coat, it is recommended to apply three thin coats of Tonachino Firenze™ to get a smooth surface.

Use a stainless steel trowel or spatula. Meoded offers a wide variety of specialty plaster tools including stainless steel trowels and spatulas used to install Tonachino Firenze™.

First Coat: Apply the first coat in the same fashion you would apply a standard joint compound; in a smooth even fashion leaving a wet edge to avoid lap marks. While the plaster is still moist, it is recommended to use a wet sponge or float in
a circular motion to create a more uniform design and to expose the aggregate. Allow at least 12 hours to dry.

Second Coat: Apply the second coat in the same manner as the first. The second coat should be applied thinly and evenly (in the thickness of the aggregate.) While the Tonachino Firenze™ is still moist, it is recommended to use a wet sponge in
a circular motion to create a more uniform design and to expose the aggregate to achieve the sand finish.

Smooth Finish: While the second coat is settling on the wall, roughly 5 minutes after application, it is recommended to smooth Tonachino Firenze™
with a plastic trowel or Meoded’s WhiteOutTrowel to avoid formation of dark trowel marks.

After a minimum of 48 hours dry time, it is recommended to protect the product with a sealer. It is recommended to use Meoded’s penetrating sealer to provide the finish with protection from moisture and dirt, while not adding sheen or changing the color.

Remove temporary protection, such as masking tape and covers. Clean up spills and splatters using methods that will not damage the surfaces.
