Product Specification
Vega Plaster™ is a genuine high-quality wall coating for interior and exterior use, formulated to achieve a natural stone, precast look. Vega is a mineral plaster with an elegant, modern day appearance, composed of lime, cement and other natural minerals. Applicable in a variety of different textures, this decorative plaster can
create many different finishes. The beauty of this plaster is the heavy thickness that allows the creation from smooth-modern to naturally pitted textures. Vega Plaster™ is a tint-able powder with great adhesion, exceptional durability, and extremely breathable. Vega can produce a natural finish to a low sheen finish after burnishing or sanding. Vega is particularly elegant and is designed for previous wall spaces for both residential, commercial spaces, and any environment where a high-end atmosphere is desired.
Approximately 8-10 sq. ft. per 10lb gallon for two coats of material
Approximately 40-50 sq. ft. per 50lb bucket for two coats of material; depending on surface and texture.
Vega can be tinted to almost any color using fine powdered pigments, universal tints, or machine colorants.
For 1 gallon (10lb) add approximately 30-36oz of clean water for desired mixture.
Mix 1 bucket (50lb) of Vega with approximately 150-180oz of clean water. Mixing different batches of Vega with different amounts of water, different mixing speeds/time or adding more water to rehydrate the Vega will alter the color, and cause color variations in the final look. Vega has a working time of 45 min - 1.5
hours when mixing with clean water, only mix as needed.
Use a stainless steel trowel or spatula to apply two coats of Vega Plaster™.
New Surface: Surface should be clean and dust free. Prime the substrate with the recommended water based primer as required; such as PVA primer for new drywall, multi-purpose primer for wood or glossy surfaces, and let it dry fully. Next
apply one coat of Meoded Quartz Primer™ allowing it at least 3-5 hours to dry.
Existing Surface: Any surface with sheen should be sanded, dust free, and then primed with a multi-purpose primer letting it dry fully. Next, apply one coat of
Meoded Quartz Primer™ allowing it at least 3-5 hours to dry. Preparation of flat surfaces require only the application of Meoded Quartz Primer™.
Exterior Brown Coat: First, surface should be pressure washed and cleaned. When the surface is fully dry, apply Meoded Quartz Primer™ diluted up to 30%
water. Let it dry for at least 3-5 hours.
First Coat: Vega Plaster™ should be applied evenly, covering the entire wall. It is recommended to use a wet sponge or a plastic trowel in a circular motion before the Vega dries to create a more uniform design, expose the aggregate, and eliminate all imperfections. Allow at least 12 hours for the first coat to dry.
Second Coat (Smooth Finish): Apply the second coat in the same manner as
the first coat, but this time apply it a bit thicker to embed the large aggregate. Spread the material evenly maintaining the same thickness across the wall. For a smooth finish, smooth the wall with the trowel applying minimal pressure and cleaning off all excess material. If extra smoothing is needed, spray minimal amounts of water before the plaster dries and continue burnishing. Then, let the plaster dry for a minimum of 48 hours before applying a sealer.
Pitted/Precast Textures: Apply the second coat in the same manner as the first coat. Before the plaster dries, use a plastic trowel and stick it onto the wall. Then, in a circular motion, move the trowel to drag the large aggregates and smooth again in the desired areas until finish is achieved.
After a minimum of 48 hours dry time, it is recommended to protect the product with a sealer. It is recommended to use Meoded’s Stain Shield penetrating sealer to provide the finish with protection from moisture and dirt, while not adding sheen or changing the color. If sheen is desired, it is recommended to apply a gloss sealer.
Velature™ is a concentrated glaze that is made to penetrate into plasters giving it a multi-color effect. Always remember that plaster absorbs quickly and that you can always darken the color if needed. Dilute the first coat of Velature™ with at least 800%-1,000% water (1 part glaze to 8-10 parts water). Using a sponge, “wash” the wall with a light thin layer, letting the wall “soak” the glaze, and seal up the plaster so that you can work with a second, darker coat.
